Open in 2003, the new 24,000 square foot Skate Park for skateboarders, inline skaters, and BMX bikers features an extensive street course flowing from an above-ground, seven-foot deep bowl. The components are framed with treated wood and completely covered with composite material. The skating surface is Skatelite Pro.
Rules for Skate Park use are posted at the park. Appropriate protective equipment such as helmets and pads are strongly recommended. Bikes must have peg covers to access and use the park.
The park is located near Kids' Cove, an innovative playground designed for children using children's ideas and input. The playground which is handicapped accessible, was constructed totally by volunteers and coordinated by the Virginia Beach Jr. Woman's Club. Approximately 4,400 volunteers assisted with the project.
