Police have charged a woman with child neglect after finding her children home alone in unsanitary conditions, they said.
An officer went to the 400 block of Britnie Court about 11 p.m. Sunday on a report of possible child neglect, according to police.
When the officer arrived, he found the children, ages 12, 12, 3 and 1, home alone, according to police. A foul smell also was coming from inside the home.
Inside, the officer found sewage backed up into the kitchen sink and a bathroom, according to police. Stagnant water was in the dishwasher and food in the refrigerator was spoiled.
The children had no beds and little furniture, according to police.
The children were in the custody of Child Protective Services, police said.
Jessica Marie Rogers, 28, arrived at the home while officers were there, police said. She was charged with four counts of felony child neglect.
