Norfolk Scope

Posted to: Norfolk Sports

This 85,000 square foot dome-shaped siamese sister to Chrysler Hall is one of the Virginia's largest convention halls with a capacity for 13,800 visitors. Since its opening in 1972, Scope has hosted a variety of events ranging from concerts, sporting events, conventions, Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus. The Scope is also the proud home of the Norfolk Admirals hockey team.

So I see there’s people out there that dislike the Scope as much as me. Concert tour managers: If you book your band there I will not buy tickets. You are loosing business. The acoustics are terrible, and the inside is dirty and old looking! Every section should have disabled seating. Scope does not. Norfolk take some money and fix up the Scope please.

I attended the home opener for the Admirals this year. My family and I were dissapointed by the seating. The seats are quite cramped and no tickets are avalible on the end boards. The scoreboard is very out dated and provides no replay or video to some very deserving fans.

No the Scope is not the MCI center but what it lacks in visual and technical attributes it makes up for in the ever constant "good employee's" They are always smiling and will to go the extra mile. So what if my seat is a little worn or I dont have the up to date overhead live video I do have very clean bathrooms and and good food. Only thing I'd change...more lights on the outside walkways and a larger food menu.

I am shocked at how run-down this building continues to be every time I set foot in it. For such a deserving team as the Admirals, it is shameful to host their games in such a dump. I have lived in areas much smaller and with less money than the Norfolk area, that take ten times more pride in the appearance of their venues.

I would not give this place any stars. I visited the Va. Beach area this past weekend along with my family. Four couples went to the show to see Bruce Bruce. I was highly disappointed with the accomadations. I felt like it was a waste of my money. I was surprised to see the place did not have any air after all of these years. And bringing that kind of money. (But that is our people) My family and I cooked and it was almost to the point that I just said forget the show and I will go outside. As long as the Scope stays like it is and does not make changes I will never come back and will not have any good things to say about the place if anyone else mentions it. Very dissatisfied with what I got for $60.00. C. Lewis

I enjoy the Scope. I go to Admirals hockey games there quite often. I think it is a great place to go for a family and I think that it will be a great place for me to take my niece. She has already experienced her first 4 hockey games there and she will experience her first circus there too.
