NORFOLK

The guided missile destroyer Cole came home today.

The crew of more than 275 sailors returned to Norfolk Naval Station after a six-month deployment providing support to a strike group off the coast of Lebanon.

The strike group included ships from England, France and Spain. It was the first time a U.S. warship participated in another country’s battle group.

The strike group was led by the British aircraft carrier Illustrious, according to the Navy.
