Police have identified a woman found Thursday morning in a parked minivan. She is Karen Gringsby, 45, of the 200 block of Kingsman Drive.

Gringsby was found in the van, parked in a lot near the intersection of Lucas Creek Road and Curtis Tignor Road, said Lou Thurston, police spokesman. Someone called 911 shortly after 7 a.m. to report the minivan, which had been parked in the lot since noon yesterday.

The caller said a person inside didn’t appear to be moving, Thurston said.

When officers and paramedics arrived, they found the woman, who was unresponsive, Thurston said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman’s body didn't appeared to have any trauma, Thurston said. The death is being investigated as undetermined.

The body was taken to the medical examiner's office in Norfolk to determine cause of death. Late Thursday, the examination had been completed. The cause of death remains undetermined, pending the results of a toxicology test, Thurston said.
