Police today released the name of a man arrested in connection with the shooting that wounded two people outside a Virginia Beach nightclub late Monday.
Wardell Lee Davis, 24, of the 8000 block of Thompson Road in Norfolk, was booked into Virginia Beach Correctional Center on malicious wounding, attempted robbery and firearms charges, according to police and jail records. He is being held without bond.
Investigators believe Davis approached a man and woman outside Cheetah’s Gentlemen’s Club, in the 1800 block of Diamond Springs Road, and tried to rob them at gunpoint, said Adam Bernstein, a police spokesman. After he was unable to get any money or property, the armed man opened fire, Bernstein said.
At least one bullet struck the man, while the woman was grazed, Bernstein said. Authorities learned of the shooting at 11:09 p.m. and arrived shortly thereafter to find the two victims. The woman was treated and released from the hospital, and the man was listed in stable condition Tuesday, Bernstein said.
