Sailor dies of gunshot wound aboard Theodore Roosevelt

NORFOLK

A sailor aboard the carrier Theodore Roosevelt died Tuesday night of a gunshot wound, according to a statement from the Commander, Naval Air Force Atlantic.

The sailor was declared dead about 7 p.m., the statement said. The ship is in port at Norfolk Naval Station.

The death is under investigation. The sailor's name was not released.

The military cannot comment further, said Mike Maus, a spokesman for the Atlantic Fleet’s Naval Air Force.
