Posted to: Transportation and Traffic

Motorists heading south on the Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel will experience backups from 3 to 5 a.m. today, as crews wash the tunnel.

As part of the tunnel-washing, traffic will be stopped at 15-minute intervals.

Also this morning, a single, westbound lane at the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel will be closed until 5 a.m. for tunnel lighting repair.

Closures also will occur at the Midtown Tunnel until 5 a.m. Those closures will continue daily through Wednesday morning, from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.
