Firefighters are on the scene of a brush fire near the 3300 block of Holland Road and Copeland Road.

The fire began on Tuesday and was extinguished, according to city spokeswoman Debbie George. Today it flared up again and has grown to between three and five acres, George said.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue and the Department of Forestry have been battling the fire since 11 a.m. today. The fire is in a remote area, George said, and the hot, dry conditions are conducive to fires.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
