Tides 10, Richmond 3

Posted to: Sports Tides

Scott Moore hit a two-run triple and Oscar Salazar delivered a two-run double as Norfolk scored seven runs in the sixth inning to roll to a 10-3 victory Saturday night over the Braves at The Diamond in Richmond.

Salazar led off the inning with a double. He moved to second when Luis Terrero was hit by a pitch before both scored on Moore's hit. Salazar later capped the rally with his second double of the inning.

Richmond took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first before the Tides scored a run each in the fourth and fifth innings. Chris Heintz had two hits and two RBIs for Norfolk.

Righthander Andy Mitchell (8-5) settled down after the rough first inning, shutting out the Braves out over the next six innings. He allowed five hits.

The Tides, who won two in a row in Richmond, travel to Durham for a four-game series against the Bulls. The opener is at 5:05 tonight.

Before the game, the Baltimore Orioles recalled righthanded reliever Greg Aquino from the Tides to replace Ryan Bukvich, who was designated for assignment.

It will be Aquino's second stint with Baltimore this season; he had a 14.21 ERA in six games during April.

Bukvich had a 6.75 ERA in four games since having his contract purchased by the Orioles on June 22. He issued six walks in 5 1/3 innings.

"I just don't think he threw enough strikes," Orioles manager Dave Trembley said.

"I don't think you can afford that luxury of putting guys on without them hitting their way on."
