Dedicated on Feb. 12, 2001, The Virginia Civil War Trails marker recognizes the history of the West Point Monument in historic Elmwood Cemetery. The West Point Monument honors the African-American men who fought for the Union. Virginia Civil War Trails project works to recognize the untold stories of the war. The program is a statewide tourism promotion that links over 200 Civil War sites throughout Virginia.
