A 26-year-old woman killed Saturday in a single-vehicle crash in Virginia Beach has been identified as Nicole Jeannine Lambert, 26, of the 2800 block of W. Gibbs Road in Virginia Beach.
Police spokeswoman Margie Long said Lambert was heading south on Blackwater Road, 2 miles north of Land of Promise Road in Chesapeake, around 1:15 p.m. when she lost attempted to pass another vehicle.
She lost control of her 2005 Ford Focus and drove into a cornfield, Long said. The car flipped and Lambert, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was partially ejected from the car. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Long said excessive speed, and not wearing a seatbelt, were factors in the fatal accident.
