Carl Edwards is Kyle Busch's BFF?

So says Busch, adding a dig, when asked Friday at California Speedway if he had a rivalry with Carl Edwards.

"We're friends, man,'' Busch said. "I joke around with guys and with myself and Carl, he's BFF Carl. We're best friends. I don't believe it's a rivalry. I believe we can still be friends and stuff like that and have that relationship on the race track.''

Q: How are you friends? Are you going to go get pizza together?

BUSCH: "Yeah, we might. I might text him later and go get some In-N-Out burgers. Oh wait. He doesn't eat that stuff probably. I don't know, maybe salads.''

BUSCH ON BEING PUT ON PROBATION: "It means you can't do anything like you did last week again.''

Carl talked about last week how Kyle Busch bumped him hard in the Nationwide race at Richmond in May to get by him, so I asked Busch about that incident:

"I don't remember anything about that situation,'' Busch said. "I do remember me having fresher tires and coming up through there and I believe Denny (Hamlin) was with me. We got by those guys. I don't remember touching them, but if I did that's repercussions of Bristol I guess is what I get. You know, the first thing I think of when I look back at Bristol is what happened in the spring of 2007 (when Kyle won the first COT race) when I was racing with Jeff Burton. He said he'd rather take a clean second-place finish than move somebody out of the way and get a win. To me, that's where sporstsmanship comes from, that's where respect comes from. That's why I have the utmost respect for Jeff Burton in this sport. Making my mistake at Waktins Glen (an incidet with Burton in the Nationwide race), I should have thought a little bit more about that move when racing Jeff. Things happen I guess.''

Asked to compare Carl Edwards and Kyle Busch, this is what Jimmie Johnson had to say:

"Certainly different guys. You have Kyle who is, uh, I don't know exactly how to explain it, but Carl is like the good guy and Kyle will be the bad guy. Two totally different personalities, but I think the fans respect what they are on track and what they're doing and then I hope to be in there and have you guys (media) talk about three guys pretty soon and be the PC guy.''
