Database: Hampton Roads schools - which made AYP?

Posted to: Education News

Under the federal No Child Left Behind Act, schools are measured each year to see if they made adequate yearly progress based on scores on state tests – in Virginia, the Standards of Learning. To “make AYP” a school must pass on all measures.

To use this database: Enter a school name. NOTE: Enter the main name of the school only; do not add "high school, "elementary school," etc. For example, type "Granby," not "Granby High School."

Detail explanations:
AYP Elements Passed = Out of 29 targets.

Not in improvement = School is not required to implement an improvement plan.

Improvement and Sanction = Schools that fail to make AYP for multiple years are put on a path to improvement that includes sanctions if the school receives Title I funding.
