David Schleck, a Virginia Beach native (Cox ’88) is the editor of the Beacon, which covers community news in Virginia Beach.
David was previously the deputy features editor at The Daily Press in Newport News. Before that, he was a reporter for 13 years. He covered science, including NASA Langley, and reported that a Langley engineer had predicted the demise of the Space Shuttle Columbia while it was still in orbit, before it disintegrated upon re-entry. As a Daily Press religion reporter, he earned a Publisher's Award in 2004 and Reporter of the Year in 1999.
He graduated from James Madison University in 1992.
