The guided missile destroyer Forrest Sherman is scheduled to arrive home Friday, ending a three-month deployment to South America, the Navy said.

The ship participated in Exercise Silent Forces with the Peruvian navy and in maritime, land and air operations with other nations in the region. It also served as Pacific Task Group Air Defense Commander and took on Chilean flag officers for Exercise Panama Canal Defense.

The crew of more than 275 sailors worked with the Coast Guard on anti-drug operations and helped a Peruvian vessel in distress.
