Destroyer Forrest Sherman returning today from deployment

More than 275 sailors aboard the destroyer Forrest Sherman are returning from deployment today.

The crew has been gone since June 1 when the ship left for South America.

While on deployment, the crew participated in land and air exercises and hosted a contingent from the Chilean navy. Sailors also conducted counter-drug operations with the Coast Guard and helped the crew of a Peruvian vessel in distress.
