HAMPTON
Police have charged a Norfolk man in an early-morning shooting on Saturday in 100 block of Tide Mill Lane, near Langley Air Force Base.
A police department spokeswoman said numerous 911 calls were made of shots fired in the area, and that police found a 22-year-old male at the scene, suffering from gunshot wounds in a parking lot. The victim was transported to a local hospital around 1:43 a.m. Saturday, where he was pronounced dead.
Police later identified the victim as Rico Lesean Walker of the first block of Twin Lakes Circle in Hampton.
According to a search warrant filed in Norfolk police have charged Michael Anthony Barnett, 21, of the 7900 block of Old Ocean View Road in Norfolk, with murder and use of a firearm.
According to Hampton police the two men had an altercation, during with Barnett was also shot. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.
