CHESAPEAKE

Jury selection continued for a second day Tuesday in the murder trial for two men charged in a fatal South Norfolk home invasion.

Shawn Sir Charles Ward, 22, and his cousin, Julian "Ramel" Barksdale, 20, are on trial in Chesapeake Circuit Court for the fatal shooting of 1-year-old Ny-Asia Tillmon and wounding the child's grandmother and uncle.

The two men are charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder, two counts of malicious wounding, breaking and entering, wearing masks in public and related gun felonies.

The home invasion occurred Nov. 10 at an apartment in the 3700 block of Bainbridge Blvd.

Masked gunmen pushed their way through the front door of the apartment, firing guns at a family inside, according to police and earlier court testimony.

The infant was shot in the head.

The child's grandmother and uncle suffered wounds that were not life-threatening.
