Kaine flunks geography test

Speaking on the selection of Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware as Barack Obama's running mate on Fox News Sunday, Gov. Tim Kaine was asked this question by moderator Chris Wallace: 'Virginia has not voted for a Democrat since 1964, but the polls say Virginia is undecided. What, if anything, can Joe Biden do for the Democrats in Virginia?'

Gov. Kaine's response was: 'Joe comes from a state, Delaware, that borders Virginia. The Eastern Shore of Virginia is not only bordering, but very, very similar, and I think there is a lot in common and Joe understands that.'

Hats off to Gov. Kaine for recognizing what many maps and politicians fail to acknowledge. The Eastern Shore is truly wonderful and a big economic contributor. However, even though he knows of the Eastern Shore, he certainly does not know much more than that. The Eastern Shore of Virginia does not border Delaware as he twice asserted; it borders Maryland.

In turn, Delaware borders Maryland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania (including the outskirts of Philadelphia). That's not exactly 'very, very similar' to the way of life on the Eastern Shore and southern Virginia.

Good Grief people

What is with you people? This letter has nothing to do with McCain or Obama. This letter is about the fact that the Governor if the Commonwealth of Virginia can not name the states that border Virginia.

I guess I was wrong, the leftist leanings of the liberal northeast have invaded parts of Virginia and have done some serious damage to the psyches of the residents.

So, does this mean than none

So, does this mean than none of these people are fit for public office? There must be more important criteria to judge fitness for office. If all we can do is wallow in the trivia, no wonder these people got into office.

"Keep up the guude

"Keep up the guude werk"

This should be a bumper sticker.

I guess the border w/ Iran should not be mentioned?

I'm not running for president

McCain thought Iraq had a common border with Afghanistan.

Someone....

Someones liberal mind is going askew, Eh George. Please get the thoughts together before trying to bash McCain on anything....Oh I know, you are senile. Nice try.

McCain thought Iraq had a common border with Afghanistan

Iran and Iraq do have a common border. None of you caught the misstatement. What's up with that?

And McCain thought Iran and Iraq had a common border.

Of course he has an excuse. He's senile.

Governor Eyebrow

As a former Delawarean and now a resident of Virginia's Eastern Shore, not only did I find Gov Kaine's comment to be idiotic, but also offensive. My husband and I could barely stand the waiting of selling our Dover home so we could move here and be granted the "political asylum" we both so wished for.

While it has made its inroads, the libral invasion from the northeast has not yet totally destroyed Virginia as it has destroyed Delaware, but they are working on it. And I say that as someone born and raised in NYC.

Jeff - brilliant detective work

You sir have caught the scoundrel. Keep up the guude werk.

It's an epidemic

So, then, Kaine would really have been a great running mate for Obama. Obama flunked his geography test with the claim that he has visited 57 states during his campaign.

DOH!

Wonder if Hannity talked about this for 3 hours a day and 5 days a week...
