The Liberal Life of a Navy Wife

Please join her as she charts her way through the turbulent waters of marriage, kids, politics, spirituality ... hey, you name it, and she'll talk about it. Vivian has degrees in Political Science and Public Relations and has a Masters in Management. McCain picks Palin as VP - my favorite response so far...

This piece in the New Republic titled, "An Astonishingly Arrogant VP Selection," about sums it up.

And, aside from what the article addresses, hello!!!  Silly McCain - we didn't support Hillary because she had ovaries.  We were voting for her because of her stance on the issues and her vision for the future.  Palin is stridently anti-choice (as in no exceptions for rape or incest), puritanical in her view of marriage being between only between a man and a woman,  is proud of her support for teaching Creationism (she isn't even smart enough to call it by its under-the-radar name of Intelligent Design), and is more of the same in the drilling and support for Big Oil that is the groupthink mindset of the GOP.

And that is just off the top of my head without any real research...just like how it seems he went about picking his VP.

Cheri and Halie

I think you'll enjoy the following video. Seems the GOP can't keep track of what they support/don't support/and criticize...no real shocker there...except Jon Stewart is so darn cute!

For real though, is it only political comedy shows that track this stuff? Where is the liberal MSM on this blatent hackery?

With you

As my husband is a big R, I made it a point to open-mindedly watch the R convention as I had the D. I put aside the shock at the Palin pick, and I sat down to watch Palin speak expecting that she would tell me why I should vote for the McCain ticket. Instead, I watched insult after insult spewed not only at Obama but at all of us who stand behind him. I was unable to watch the last few minutes of her speech because I was so offended. Instead of winning over a voter, she taught me that the McCain ticket is one big nasty threat. In fact, I'm more disturbed by a McCain/Palin Presidency than ever, as it would be the most extreme administration our country has ever seen.

If we vote McCain into office, we will watch as he and Palin systematically work to dismantle women's reproductive rights and continue the incredibly offensive abstinance-only programs which do not teach our children how to prevent unwanted pregnancies or avoid diseases. And non-partisan politics? Palin has made it very clear that she isn't going to Washington to negotiate with anyone. It's her way or the highway. We can be sure that a McCain/Palin administration will incorporate groupthink just has the Bush administ

Yes we can?

Well, at least no one will call any of you wonks. As I’ve stated before, I don’t take any militant anti-abortion stances, but I don’t think you have any more right to make me pay for one than you have to insist I pay for breast implants or Jenny Craig meals. Throwing around terms like “puritanical” only help create the useless noise that drowns out any exchange of rational ideas – how can you expect to be taken seriously beating the same drum over and over while accusing the other side of groupthink? Do you see ANY contradiction in dismissing the other side with rote talking points when the talking points include “more of the same…?”

As for experience – take a deep breath and revisit this concept. What exactly is the experience everyone’s lamenting? I honestly feel that the political machine is broken – BOTH SIDES! Thus, the less experience the better. If you don’t agree, then at least find a minimum amount of consistency. Obama has nothing over Palin as far as experience – and anyone loses that debate simply by participating.

I get the fact that you want abortions – apparently available next to the slushy machines at every 7-11 – I get

Well S. Rose I have done my

Well S. Rose I have done my homework on Sarah Palin and Vivian is right on.Not only that... she is under investigation for ethical violations for abuse of power in her job as governor. She is no Hillary Clinton and never will be!!!

From the top of your head without doing research...

Well at least you admit you do not know what you are talking about. And you have the courage to do it in a public forum.
