MoveOn protest targets Rep. Drake, oil industry

I seem to remember another crisis the republican party used to push another unneeded war for the benifit of the Vice Presidents company. The rush to accept ment very few questions were asked. The result, unecessary death, the economy in shambles, but worse the "rape" of the constution. Drilling in the prohibited area may be needed, but only after careful consideration and most certainly after the millions of land already leased to the oil compnaies.Mr McCain lean on you buddies in big to "drill here, drill now." Then if needed we cam look at other areas. Until then Mr. McCain you are doing the same thing your mentor did.

She gets her hair done at the same place I do, but she doesn't know who I am (on this blog), but she does try to kiss up to me with the same old patronizing comments she gives everyone else. I totally and complete, dislike that woman, and not just her politics.

Is anyone surprised by this? I mean where have you been the last 8 years? Drake is just another puppet on the Republican String. She marches to the same tune as the other members of the Republican Reich.

I haven't met a Libertarian yet who didn't think that government should exist only to provide for the common defense of the country. They are devoid of any ideas for using the government to grow the economy, because they believe that markets should be completely free to be regulated only by the laws of supply and demand. Sounds pretty good, but when you start out with an eighteenth century view of running twenty first century government you will come across as out of touch every time.
I know a lot of disillusioned Republicans who used to feel very similarly until this administration spent us into the biggest deficit ever. Just more proof that when you start out hating the government you should NEVER be allowed to govern it.

I was over visiting another board and they were discussing Obama's suggestion about keeping your car tires inflated correctly to save on gas. Mr. Beck was not impressed. However, the math seems to support Sen. Obama. This is what follows:

If you don't think the Republicans are not doing the same things at or above the same level than I have some of that ocean front property in Arizona to sell you. It seems odd that you would basically say the Dems all march in lockestep with Moveon when clearly the Repubs have a well greased machine to get the party message out "talking points" to the compliant portions of the press and their hatchet organizations like the Swift Boat Liars of yesteryear. Modern politics is nasty, mean spirited, vindictive, and counterproductive to the higher good of the country. Some just do a better job than others at eviscerating their oponents. Look for personal attack ads sponsored by a party and/or candidate and that will tell the story.

Well I see George Soros, the big bucks funder of MoveOn.org, hatchet group is doing what big bucks wants them to do. I wonder if he is going to make the remark like he did in 2004, If GWB is elected I will leave the US, with the remark if BHO isn't elected he will leave the US. Also all the Democrats are afraid to say or do anything without MoveOn.org and big bucks approval.

No Iranian oil is purchased by U.S. companies. No U.S. companies are active in Iran's oil sector. Also, I don't pretend to believe that we could sever ties to the Middle East and maintain our current demand, but to be honest it wouldn't matter if we did. One of the biggest reasons we are a target is because of what our country stands for and its influences abroad. We could stop buying oil from OPEC tomorrow but our "influential" damage has already been done and would continue to be a rallying cry for terrorism. They don't care what car you drive or how much oil their country sells us, they only care that their way of life and control over it is threatened by us.

Another useless mailer from Drake-paid for by us, the citizens of the second District. So it is ok to use money to send out her "campaign brochures" but not for poor kids to receive health care?

Maybe this November we can elect someone who would represent most of the people of the second District, not big oil.

First, Venezuala is not exactly our buddy. Second, under your logic we should be able to stop importing from Iran. We should also be able to quit pressuring the Saudis to increase production. We don't need them. Right?

Our largest supplier of oil is Canada, and we get more oil from non-OPEC countries than from them. So again, while it may cost the consumer more to fill up a 30-gal tank and to drive a "tank" that money spent certainly isn't putting guns or bombs in the hands of Canadians who are just waiting to cross the borders and blow up Niagara Falls. By saying "SUVs embolden terrorists" you are justifying the extremely poor decisions of an administration that is continuing to prey on an ill-informed and uneducated public.

As for the Libertarian Party, people and the media will start taking them seriously when they quit with the utopian dreams and get real. Even their candidates year after year are jokes. This time they are running their best candidate yet, Barr, but that doesn't change the joke the party is.

If you think our fuel useage does not fund our enemies, I think you will find our own goverment disagrees now. Even Bush who offered tax incentives on heavier veh's has backed off. Ask your self what will these countries export once the demand for oil has slowed? Nothing. Sand for construction use in their region. Of course oil will always be needed. By increasing our demand we are in the middle of the largest transfer of wealth in the worlds history. The most richest nation ever is giving it's wealth away to it's enemies.

Move.on group is by itself acting as a terrorist group. All these pre-recorced telephone calls coming from "Out of area", stating that Congresswoman T. Drake doing this & that, however in Commonwealth of Virginia when you using phone to ring with intend to annoy, you are committing a crime. I'm sure are annoyed this harassment. If oil is so bad, why are we leaving it in the ground? We've got to get it as far away from Earth as possible, right?

Liberals demand OPEC to drill more to drive the price down, but adding our own oil to the market wouldn't affect the price, correct?

Gas is not the only use for oil, obviously. What will all the plastics be replaced with? The keyboard I'm typing on...what will replace that? Corn-, or solar-, based keys?

When ONE oil company paid $30+ BILLION in taxes last year, equal to what they made in profits, how is it the gov't can demand "windfall profit" taxes?

Lastly, where in the Constitution does it allow one industry to be taxed differently from the others?

As far as being a friend of the oil companies goes—I am a friend of the oil companies too. I suspect if most of the Pilot’s readers examine their 401k and/or mutual fund port folios, the will discover that they too, are the oil companies friends.

I want American businesses to do well. Because when American businesses do well, the American people do well.

Every year for the last five, the Tidewater Libertarian Party has held a rally on Bill of Rights Day in December. Every year, we have a noted authority on the Constitution as a speaker. Every year we have 40 to 60 activists, plus school children, attend the rally. Every year, the Virginian Pilot is informed of the rally well in advance.

And not once has the Pilot covered the event.

Seven kook fringe socialists can spew a lot of garbage about the oil industry, which makes our modern lives possible providing a product we all want and need, at a fair profit margin, and the Pilot is all over it, but a positive program intended to inform the public about our unique guarantees of Liberty isn't worth covering, even though it is 8 times as large.

I drive my SUV because it is PAID for!!! For my my families safety, I would rather have them in my gas guzzling SUV than one of those tiny new fuel saving Smart Cars if an unforeseeable accident were to occur.

It seems as though the VP could report the status of "the rumor" or the investigative work they are doing and why Edwards has not denied it. Seems like a pretty good story to me

I think ideological fanaticism (i.e. mentally disturbed thought process)is the basis for terrorism, along with having no respect for human life and hating individual freedom. It must be nice to be able to spout the kool-aid responses of the radical environmentalist’s movement that has been a big factor in causing our current oil crisis and HIGH Prices. Yes your Hero Pelosi and Reid in congress have once again shown their arrogance in the fact they have no clue to what the American people want. The People want to end this dependence on foreign oil by drilling in ANWAR and off our coast where we know there is more oil that in the Middle East by reports put out by our own Government. So keep driving your box car death trap and remember when you are planted with it that the safety factor just wasn't the same as that SUV you hate so bad and that the other person wanted to drive. Take your buddies MOVEON.ORG and other radical environmentalists groups and protest in CHINA cause maybe they want to hear what you have to say we sure do NOT.
