NASCAR puts Busch, Edwards on probation

NASCAR announced today it has placed Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards on probation for the next six races for their on-track actions after the race Saturday at Bristol.

After the race, Busch drove up alongside Edwards and hit his car. Edwards responded by hitting Busch in the back and causing him to spin.

Consider probation a warning. Drivers can survive while on it. Heck, Tony Stewart won the 2005 title while on probation. This is just a reminder for the drivers to mind their manners on the track.

That NASCAR didn't dock any points or issue any fines only shows this is a very minor offense in the eyes of series officials. The six races these guys will be on probation will be for: California, Richmond, New Hampshire, Dover, Kansas and Talladega. Of course, they'll be off probation by the time they get to Martinsville (Oct. 19) for the final short track race of the season. Hmm.
