Norfolk Collegiate guard Donte Hill has committed to play basketball at Clemson

Hill, a 6-foot-4 rising senior, averaged 20.3 points, 7.9 rebounds and 6.3 assists last season for the Oaks. He also had 10 double-doubles.

He was recruited by Tulane, George Mason and other mid-majors but said it came down to Clemson and Old Dominion University.

“ODU came at me real hard and that would have been a good situation for me,” Hill said about playing for Blaine Taylor. “But it came down to wanting to play in the ACC. I also love Clemson’s style of play and the way they play defense. I just had to go with Clemson.”

Clemson is coached by Oliver Purnell who coached and played at Old Dominion University.

“It was very close between the two schools,” said Norfolk Collegiate coach Jim Markey. “If you would have talked to me a week ago, I would have said he was going to ODU. But he loves both schools and I think Clemson’s style of play and getting a chance to play in the ACC really turned the tide for him.”
