VIRGINIA BEACH
Two Virginia Beach police officers witnessed a robbery Monday evening at a motel, then arrested three suspects, police said.
The officers were on patrol near the Wayside Motor Inn, 400 S. Military Highway, and noticed a suspicious vehicle with its headlights off, said Adam Bernstein, a police spokesman.
The officers saw two men dressed in black confront an employee inside the motel, Bernstein said. The men got in the vehicle and left.
The driver of the vehicle initially did not stop for police blue lights, but stopped at Providence Road and Reon Drive, Bernstein said.
Officers arrested Joshua Gregory Brown, 19, of Norfolk on multiple charges, including robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, and reckless driving. They also arrested Paul Anthony Abbey, 18, of Norfolk, and a 17-year-old male on charges of robbery, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, conspiracy to commit robbery and wearing a mask in public.
