Sue Sanderson, right, of Norfolk and Tierra Walker of Virginia Beach hug after getting the last tickets to the town hall meeting with Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, to be held Thursday evening at Oscar Smith High School in Chesapeake. Sanderson and Walker met while waiting in line outside the Norfolk campaign office today. Sanderson gave one of her tickets to Walker so she could bring her daughter. All the tickets have been given out, but those who did not receive them were put on a waiting list. (Genevieve Ross | The Virginian-Pilot)

I meant to state that I support not paying the way for those who choose not to do so for themselves. Sorry for the confusion.
Asnerj
Asner, please provide one instance ewhere I support a class syatem. I do believe those that earn theior way should not support those who do not but in no manner should color, creed, ethnicity, disability, and so on should affect this outcome.
As for light rail, you have me confused w/ someone else. I am an ardent supporter of all public transportation. Especially trains. I vote for them when I lived in VB too.
My only comments ever made about Lieberman was pointing out that he is the swing vote between parties. He cannot be depended on by the dems to make BO's pipe dream achievable(as if it were possible).
"All because your fear real change"
Not me, just not a fan of empty promises. In fact, our biggest difference is highlighted in this exchange. I think before I speak. Your the standard Obamite that needs things to be simple.
Lack of civil comments
Sure, the comments aren't civilized.
It started, probably, will Bill Clinton and the disrespectful way that all but the military thought they could refer to the Commander in Chief (we military have to show respect, because he is C in C). We have been raking President Bush over the same coals of disrespect for 8 years. All I can say is that Barack Obama had better have thicker skin than his supporters (I think he does . . .) as some of them will be crying racism every time the American public demonstrates the gross disrespect we now cultivate for the occupier of the highest office in the land. Cheers, MGM
Ira Tateu .... You make it about race and class
Over the course of reading your posts; you sir, are interested in classis value systems. From the light rail posts you called yourself out in terms of not wanting to think progressively about transportation. Those comments about Lieberman were such blatant in delial, warped and devoid of intelligence I wonder why you think that a new article wipes the slate clean. You should be embarrassed, you simply are afraid of balancing scales within our political system to compete in the new world where the rest of the world (for example Europe) has already come to progressive means to solve the serious issues facing humanity in this century. All because your fear real change
I don't like being negative but America's asked for it
If neither of them can back their words in office then that makes them useless, frivolous liars and their supporters the arse that that candidate rode in on. Talk is cheap. I support those who back their words and time will tell who is most honorable. Most Presidents have not been able to back their words and promises in past years. Many thanks to the troops who grant me freedoms that I frequently and unfortunately take for granted. I hope you're all home soon.
Ira
Not surprising (to many) is that one would get more press coverage when speaking to a couple hundred thousand people in Berlin than to a couple of shoppers in a grocery store. And when a presidential candidate comes to town, that would generate a lot of press in that town's media. That too stands to reason. When the RNC and JM et all goaded him into going to Iraq (and consequently Europe), then the goaders should take their lumps and be more careful about what they wish for.
Stay out of New France...
"Ye shall know them by their bitter fruit"
George, did you type this on your Blackberry from the England section of Busch Gardens?
Has anyone seen any posters on these boards who could be considered bitter about race? I have seen a few but they all seem to be supporting the candidate who is a minority. That is really odd. I wonder why they take this tact? Hmmmm
Warm and Fuzzy
"I'm not going to say all the jobs in Martinsville are going to come back if I'm elected president," Obama told about 300 invited guests - most of them blue-collar workers - who gathered at Patrick Henry Community College.
"I'm not saying the schools will be fixed," he added. "What I'm saying is that I'm going to wake up every morning thinking about you."
-------------------------------------
I don't know about you guys, but just knowing that he will wake up thinking about me sends a tingle up my leg!

Ye shall know them by their bitter fruit.
Hey Barry what about your brother??
Barack Obama's long lost brother has been tracked down for the first time living in Kenya on less than a dollar a month tell him to hope in one hand and.....see which get full first!!!
Not all Black folks are fooled! That's right spike the ball on the five yard line and dance or better yet move him into the White house in Oct.! The media has done everything in there power to make Barry Obama President. There's always and excuse when Democrats loose!!So expect and excuse if they loose. Hope, change hmmmm.. that's funny. Bill Aires, Jeremiah Wright "Black Liberation Theology" LOL Media Boys and girls you can not hide this guys past. The General election is coming and I cant wait! Barry is a Liberal and that's all I need to know.I Expect Liberal things from Liberal person. Expecting anything different is foolish.
"is it a race?" Man I wish
"is it a race?"
Man I wish Obama was white so we did not have to hear this race crap injected into the conversation. But I guess causing offense to large numbers of people is a good way to steer people to my candidate. It is really tired. While there are obviously racists all over the world; perhaps we could just stick to the facts? It's really tired.
A Change Could Do Us Good!
The only thing McCain has proven is that he doesn't need a teleprompter but he does need the questions ahead of time so he can shout out his answers before being asked! Someone should have told McCain that it wasn't a TV game show. At least Obama put some thought into answering instead acting like McCain who forgot to take his ADHD meds. Don't let the White House door slap you on the Republican butt on the way out in November. Sorry it sounded so harsh, but it's kind of funny.
Too old
McCain is 72 years old, has had cancer on 5 parts of his body, and is on 5 different medications. He is too old to be president.
is it a race?
among all the anti-Obama crowd to post the first "nObama"? I just wonder how McCain became so qualified for the President position in the last 8 years. Oh wait, he couldn't beat Bush then so he just hopped on his coattails (voted in line with Bush 95% in 2007) and reversed his position on Roe v. Wade to pander to the Christian right that he denounced during his losing bid in 2000.
"all you Obama haters" Nice,
"all you Obama haters"
Nice, very nice language usage.
I cannot wait until November.
president obama
not for very long I will bet
Haters
From where I sit all the negative comments are from probably McCain supporters but because all you haters commented just proves one thing. Obama draws a crowed everywhere he goes and after November you all will be saying President Obama.
May I?
Should I point out that Obama get's press in the craziest places? We have an article about people waiting in line for his tickets.
This race is really becoming comical. It appears many in our society are dependent on novelty and marketing more than substance when choosing elected officials.
$10 says any candidate that wears rhinestones on their collar will get an uptick of 1-5%
26 Years of Experience Wasted
McCain voted to send our men and women into Iraq, but would not show up to vote on a bill that would help with their education. He missed more votes than anyone in the senate, but he wants to call them back into session. He'll say anything to get elected.
LOL...
I was going to write a comment but I was laughing so hard at the NObama idiocy, I couldn't. NOBama 08. McCain, please take the helm.
Why so Bitter!
Why is everyone showing their true colors. Please show him respect like you would want for yourself. Just give him a chance to plea his case, its no problem with that. When McCain comes he should have respect too... This is an event that only occurs every four years, so let everyone enjoy it. Stop being so Bitter!!!!!
Showtime!
Someone tell these people this isn't an audition for American Idol, this is for the President of the United States. This country's highest office. I would be curious as to what he will talk about other than "Change," because Lord knows he has no specific accomplishments.
I hope he's not asked any questions becuase he's proven he can't speak without a Teleprompter.
OBAMA, OBAMA, OBAMA, the
OBAMA, OBAMA, OBAMA, the Messiah has returned!
