From Port Folio Weekly: A downtown turning point at Town Point Park

Posted to: Entertainment Spotlight

Change is coming to Norfolk's Town Point Park.

Following the Virginia Wine Festival in October, tractors and other heavy equipment will begin the process of transforming the park into a multi-use area featuring a completely new layout with trees, landscaping, sidewalks, seating, lighting, restrooms and ornamental fencing along Waterside Drive.

One of the highlights of Town Point Park’s new look is an amphitheater where the tent-covered stage will be located near the space where the Spirit of Norfolk currently docks. The stage will face Nauticus, projecting the sound of music lengthwise across the park.

The Outer Berth section, right next to Waterside Festival Marketplace, is being renamed Waterside Landing. The area will include an inviting, interactive water fountain plaza. The snug zone is designed to host intimate concerts and ceremonial events. These changes are long overdue.
