VIRGINIA BEACH

After years of restoration work, a B-25J twin-engine bomber took its maiden flight with full armament today from Suffolk to the Military Aviation Museum in Pungo, landing without a hitch before a crowd of former pilots and other aircraft aficionados.

The plane was restored at the Fighter Factory in Suffolk. The plane is a part of a series made famous by American bombing raids over Tokyo during World War II.

The plane will be on view now at the museum, all but two of whose planes still fly.

To see a video of the plane's flight, return to PilotOnline.com later; read more about it in tomorrow's Virginian-Pilot.

No comparison

There's just nothing like WWII aircraft. Not for me anyway.

Really?

Where is the Military Aviation Museum in Pungo?
