CHESAPEAKE
Chesapeake police, with help from the Sheriff’s Department and the United States Marshals Service, made 40 arrests during a warrant round-up in South Norfolk this week.
Officers and marshals served 70 of 142 warrants Wednesday night, according to news release from the Chesapeake Police Department. Thirty-four of those were felonies; 36 were misdemeanors. One traffic summons was served.
The round-up was part of a “proactive approach” in a city-wide process to find and arrest suspects who have not surrendered themselves to police, the news release said.
South Norfolk has been the scene of several high-profile investigations this year, including the death of police Detective Jarrod Shivers in January and 18-year-old Lonnie Andrews Jr. and 26-year-old Dontrell Whitehurst who were shot to death July 1 just hours and miles apart.

Police Activity and the Law
Many of my friends and family are police. They are the ones who've told me about the fellow officers robbing, stealing and lying. And framing other cops to take the blame. And murdering cops who speak up.
Bull, Larry and angry
Each of you are truly ignorant of police activity and the law. Enough said!
Let the PD do their job
and let the court system do it's job with Fredrick. In a few months, the case will go to trial. The court/jury will decide whether the police acted lawfully that night. Until then, give the PD and the officers a break. They're doing their job arresting people with outstanding warrants, and taking criminals off the street. I'd like to see those people who belittle these roundups participate (or better yet, VOLUNTEER) to help out...and see what the officers go through on a daily basis. Then maybe you'd understand what it's like to work in a thankless profession! Koodos PD...job well done!
Real Criminals
There were several felony jay-walkers, a few who spit on the sidewalk and a couple for cursing in public. Chesapeake is safe now.
As long as Ryan Frederick is
As long as Ryan Frederick is in jail, I have no respect for the Chesapeake police or any degree of confidence in who they arrest.
When they admit their mistake and rectify the results of their own decisions, the healing can begin.
It is time for the federal Government to step in.
Free Ryan Frederick.
???
just wondering if they arrested any real bad guys...you know like burgular/confidential informants that set up the police to invade citizens homes??
