1960: Moved to Overland Park, Kan., at age 2 when his father, an electrical engineer, was offered a job that allowed the family to be closer to relatives.
1976: Graduated from Rockhurst High School, a Catholic preparatory school.
1979: Earned a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Missouri. . He completed his degree in three years, graduated summa cum laude and was accepted at Harvard Law School
1980-1981: Took a break from law school, and traveled to El Progreso, Honduras, where he spends nine months as a missionary.
1983: Received his law degree.
Nov. 24, 1984: Married Anne Holton, a fellow Harvard Law School graduate whose father, Linwood Holton, was Virginia's governor from 1970-1974.
1988-1993: Taught legal ethics at the University of Richmond Law School.
1994: Elected to first of four terms on Richmond City Council. He won against incumbent City Councilman Benjamin Warthen by fewer than 100 votes.
1998: Demonstrated his skills as a lawyer when he won a $100 million jury verdict against Nationwide Insurance, which was accused of discriminating against predominantly black neighborhoods. The state Supreme Court later threw out the verdict; Kaine negotiated an out-of-court settlement for $17.5 million in 2000, netting his firm about $5.8 million in fees.
1998: Elected mayor by fellow council members.
2001: Elected lieutenant governor on a Democratic ticket headed by Mark R. Warner and stepped down from his law practice at McCandlish Kaine.
2005: Elected governor of Virginia.
January 14, 2006: Tim Kaine sworn in as the 70th Governor of Virginia.
April 2007: Praised for his actions and involvement in the aftermath of the Virginia Tech massacre.
May 2007: Hosts Queen Elizabeth II at the Jamestown 2007 Celebration.
Summer 2008: Elected chairman of the Southern Governors Association.
August 2008: Discussed as a possible vice presidential running mate with Sen. Barack Obama.

Can't the Democratic party come up with some other leaders who aren't trial lawyers?
Yes, Obamma, it is time for a change in DC. How about starting with getting rid of the lawyers who are writing the laws to enhance their bottom line!
