CHESAPEAKE
At least seven businesses were damaged by a two-alarm fire at Wilson Village Shopping Center at Johnstown Road and South Battlefield Boulevard early this morning.
Firefighters were called to the blaze shortly after 2 a.m. when the alarm at Mr. Jim's Submarines went off, said Capt. Steve Johnson, fire department spokesman. No injuries were reported.
The fire appeared to have started in the back of the shopping center at the delivery area of the Court House Cafe, Johnson said. From there, the flames spread to a laundromat next door and sent smoke into several other businesses.
Firefighters had the blaze under control before 3:30 a.m., Johnson said.
The Court House Cafe and Mr. Jim's probably won't be open for business today because of the smoke damage, Johnson speculated.
Fire investigators were on the scene trying to determine the cause of the blaze.
Police officers were redirecting traffic on Johnstown and had part of the right lane of Battlefield blocked in front of the shopping center.

Courthouse Cafe Fire
I totally agree about the prior comment about cigarette smoking at courthouse cafe. My family ate there one time and somebody caught thier table on fire with a cigarette. The food was always outstanding but my friends and family couldnt handle the extremely thick smoke thru dinner. It was by far the worst atmosphere I and my family has eaten at in the 21st century. Hello ,,, Management,,, Owners ,,, hopefully this will be a wakeup call for you all. Thank God no one died.
