Beach police seek information about two bank robberies

VIRGINIA BEACH

Police are investigating two separate bank robberies that occurred today.

The first robbery occurred this morning at 11:38 a.m. at the BB&T Bank on the 5200 block of Princess Anne Road. A man in his mid 30s, about 6-feet-tall, wearing a black hat, glasses and red bandanna that covered his face, handed the teller a note demanding money, according to a police news release. The man asked the teller to fill a black bag and then he left the bank. No weapon was displayed, no injuries were reported and no vehicle was seen.

The second robbery took place at SunTrust Bank on the 700 block of First Colonial Road at 3:06 p.m. A man in his late 30s, about 5-feet-8-inches to 5-feet-10-inches tall, wearing a Virginia Tech hat with white letters, large frame glasses, plaid, long-sleeved shirt and dark jeans displayed a note demanding the teller place money in a red back pack with black straps. He was last seen heading toward Laskin Road, according to the news release.

Anyone with information about these robberies is asked to call the Virginia Beach Crime Solvers Office at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP (1-888-562-5887) Callers remain anonymous and are eligible to receive a cash reward of as much as $1,000 if the information leads to an arrest.
