Vote for gridlock

Your preference for this year's presidential election may well be 'none of the above,' but there may be a better option. Once again, we have to choose between the lesser of two evils.

Yet much must be accomplished. A partial listing might include: An improved economy; affordable health care; regaining the respect of the international community; ending torture and, oh yes, bringing a prompt ending to an illegal war that has cost us so much in human lives and untold billions of dollars.

The only visible solution is to elect a Republican president and a Democratic Congress that has at least a two-thirds majority. This pairing is certainly possible and likely probable based on the current composition of the House and Senate.

A review of history reveals that this combination has worked well in the past.

Endlesss War or Progress -- The Choice is Clear

I heard him promise that there would be more war. He seems to be the candidate of war without end, maybe even with Russia. I personally can't seen anything positive he is offering, only war and destruction.

A Prayer for you PD :)

Our Messiah, who art from heaven, or Hawaii, or possibly Chicago,
Liberal be thy name,
Thy Marxist presidency come,
Thy will be done,
On Earth, as it is in San Francisco.
Give us this day more of our daily handouts.
And forgive us our individualism,
As we forgive those who don't properly inflate their tires.
And lead us not into the Clintons,
But deliver us from McCain
For this is my kingdom,
and the power, and the glory being driven by the Liberal Media ,
for two full terms.

PD

The problem I have with Messiah Obama is that he is a nobody from IL who has only been in the senate for 189 days before deciding that the Presidancy is what he ultimately wants and he has only voted Present to things he should be supporting or defeating without making an actual decision. I am sick of the Media hype of this empty suit and sick of having him forced down my throat by the media as the only hope this country has. I disagree totally with the LIBERAL Marxist views of this man and his associates which got him this far, He keeps throwing out how he is going to change the US and change the world but he fails to tell you how he is going to PAY for all the useless promises, OH YEA HE HAS NANCY (i am going to save the planet)PELOSI and Harry( useless)ried in his corner Now beyond the shadow of a doubt I will do everything I can to help defeat this Social elistist. Mccain may not be perfect and NO he was not the pers

johnbo...

I and many in this country can make just as strong a case that Republicans do exactly the same you claim Democrats are doing. And it can be backed up in proof by words, voting records, etc, etc. In fact the only thing I hear McCain blather about in his ads is attacking Obama and placing blame, but no ideas of his own. At least Obama has some vision. I do not want to hear how bad the other guy is anymore, I want to hear what is the greater scheme of ideas. Can you please tell me what does McCain plan to do beyond the status quo? I cannot ascertain anything out of his mouth yet. Just attack, attack. If McCain could come up with something tangible beyond stay the course I could actually then start to compare the two candidates ideas and vision.

Getting it right

Sorry, A Markowitz, you don't get it right. Obama is not a socialist, he is a Marxist. Joe Biden is a socialist.

George Bush has not been stellar in my book, but he is not running for President, so you need to drop the subject.

McCain is not, was not, and will never be my first choice, but unlike Obama and Biden, he at least understands MOST of the Constitution of the United States.

Get it Right

Imo, the last socialist that ran for President was Eugene Debs so you've never had the chance to vote for one. Right-wing extremists consistently discredit themselves by tossing out terms of which they obviously have no understanding. Every democratic candidate of the last few decades has been labeled a commie and a socialist by you guys -- Clinton, Kerry, Gore, and now Obama -- all of them relatively conservative corporatists. Furthermore, while the "Big Government Big Spender, Taxer" mantra continues, Clinton proved just the opposite and Bush has busted the budget and created the largest most intrusive US government in our history. There is plenty of room for legitimate criticism but you have to be able to think for yourselves and you have to actually know what you're talking about.

No Thanks A Markowitz

The problem with your theory is that the Democratic nominee will do none of those things and history has demonstrated it to be so, All they know how to do is act as critics to the Republicans and claim everything wrong in this country is their fault, when in fact Democrat’s trying to be everything to everyone and believing that the only salvation for us all is more government involvement which causes this destruction. Two failed programs welfare and food stamps caused most of it. It's time to get the keep the Defeatist (Democrat’s) party out of the White House and to vote them out of Congress as well Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid and Messiah OBAMA have been nothing short of disaster for this country in the last 2 yrs and they deserve not 1 day more to continue down their partisan road they have caused. They've blown it and continue to bow at the alter of Moveon.Org, Code pink and George Sorrus socialist

Sounds Good

Sounds good to me since I don't care for either candidate or their parties and I never have or will vote for a liberal socialist.

Have to Agree

You're right. A big part of that is the power of the media to make or brake a candidate. The best are ignored because they won't make as good a story or because they don't adequately satisfy media mega-corporate interests. Abe Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, FDR, LBJ and others would never have been able to win the Presidency today.

The problem is...

that as a country we only want people who look good on tv and can make everyone happy. We can elect people like that all day long, but nothing will ever change. What we need is someone with an Iacocca like attitude and get this country back on the right road no matter who it ticks off. But, we will never elect anyone like that. Chances are he/she is too smart to even try running for that office.

No Thanks

The problem with your theory is that the Republican nominee will do none of those things and history has demonstrated that even a Democratic Majority will cave in to Republcan tactics. It's time to get the Republicans out of the White House and out of Congress as well. They've blown it and only serve to obstruct progress on environment, health care, foreign policy, civil rights and issues that effect working families.
