One week after Cox knocked off Kellam, the Tallwood defense sent the host Falcons back to reality on Friday.
The Lions (3-2) achieved the Beach District shutout behind standout performances from defensive end Roland Apellaniz and defensive tackle Kevin Pendleton.
Byron Parker scored the game’s only TD, in the second quarter, and finished the night with 14 carries for 50 yards.
Tallwood’s defense held the Falcons (3-2) to 12 rushing yards.

VIRGINIA BEACH
Mike Mugler’s 26-yard field goal in overtime earned the host Patriots their first victory after three losses.
Landstown (2-3), which squandered a 14-0 halftime lead, had the initial possession in overtime. Tom Van Dyck missed a 26-yard field goal on fourth down.
First Colonial coach Bill McTyre had Mugler kick on first down for the game winner.

Dejor Simmons scorched the Cavaliers' defense for 165 yards and three touchdowns in the first half of a Beach District blowout.
Simmons had second-quarter touchdown runs of 67, 23 and 44 yards – finishing the game with 177 yards on 12 carries, as the third-ranked Stallions improved to 4-0.
Antonio Simmons returned from a one-game suspension and scored a pair of second-half touchdowns – one on a 16-yard blocked punt return and another on a 2-yard run.
Zachary Dunstan and Tevon Gatlin each had an interception for Green Run, which held Princess Anne (0-5) to just 103 total yards.

#9 Kellam 30, Bayside 12
VIRGINIA BEACH
The top two rushers in South Hampton Roads combined for three touchdowns and 258 yards on the ground to lead the host Knights (4-1) in a Beach District game.
James Taylor, the area’s leading rusher, broke a finger on his left hand midway through the second quarter after running for 105 yards and a touchdown. Sean Abrams scored twice, tallying 153 yards on the ground. Taylor has 691 yards for the season and Abrams, 560.
The Marlins’ two scoring plays were a pair of 20-yard touchdown passes from Jaquan Glover to Corey Young. Bayside dropped to 1-3.

Salem 21, Kempsville 14
VIRGINIA BEACH
Tyshawn Harris scored twice in the fourth quarter for the SunDevins (3-2), who ate up nearly eight minutes of the fourth quarter on the two drives to put away Kempsville in a Beach District match-up.
Harris’s second touchdown, from 3 yards out, gave Salem a 21-7 lead with 1:48 left.
Kempsville (0-4) tried to rally behind quarterback Chris Rodgers, who moved the Chiefs 75 yards before hitting Tanner Fiano for a 10-yard scoring pass with three seconds remaining. But Salem recovered the ensuing onsides kick to end the game.
