There is a debate raging that is far more interesting than presidential candidate Barak Obama (D-IL) referring to Governor Sarah Palin (R-AL) as “lipstick on a pig”. The important topics up for discussion are being eclipsed by the ridiculous diatribe that has plastered the media, news papers and TV outlets all day. Whether Barak Obama is a sexist pig attempting to call a ruby red-lipped kettle black is irrelevant at this juncture. He didn’t take Hillary as his running mate, probably out of fear and not so much sexism, and his open-mouth, insert-foot statement was, in my opinion, a poor choice of words but probably not an intentional, thought out statement to slam the female powerbase; a very important constituent group if he wants to win this election. However, I could be wrong (it wouldn’t be the first time); the bible does say “out of the mouth the heart speaks”. (Matthew 12:34)
Be that as it may, there really are other more interesting things to talk about; this for instance....
“Over at ‘On Faith,’ the project of The Washington Post and Newsweek magazine, a debate is raging over this question: Women are not allowed to become clergy in many conservative religious groups. Is it hypocritical to think that a woman can lead a nation and not a congregation?” [Source: A Woman Can Lead a Nation, But Not a Church? By Albert Mohler (Crosswalk)]
Of course the populace that has weighed in on this meaty morsel is very interesting and to my joyful surprise has taken a very clear cut and biblically accurate position on the matter. (Check them out at the link above)
For thousands of years women have been barred from holding positions in the church such as teaching, preaching, evangelizing and the like. It has taken the shear necessity of the church to include women in teaching, evangelizing or sending them out into the mission field. Funny thing is; God has been ordaining women for His ministry long before the “men of the church” figured out that women actually have a vital and crucial role in the organization and leadership within the church structure. These women simply followed God’s calling and ignored the temper tantrums of the surrounding male order.
As it became more common place in secular society for women to do comparable jobs as men; to attend schools of higher learning, to become doctors, lawyers, scientists, astronauts, politicians, ambassadors, Prime Ministers; the church began to permit women into the inner sanctum of the church hierarchy; depending of course on the denomination. As the church began to thaw to the old vestiges of male dominance purported by men like Plato, Socrates, Aristotle and church “fathers” like Tertullian and yes, all you die hard reformationists, Martin Luther taught of the inferiority of women too. The Greek intellectual influence on the ancient church is undeniable. But like all great things, rampant sexism, even within the church walls, must come to an end.
As women embark into new and uncharted territories, the heart and soul of the church (which happens to be mostly women) will also change. Not that the bible or scripture has changed in anyway, but its interpretations will begin to line up with the way in which God had intended it to be. The modern day Christian who contends daily with the onslaught of information is a truth seeker. And the seeker of truth will eventually find it, or at the very least come to terms with its meaning. The seeker of truth will impart that wisdom to others and eventually that truth will become the norm and the archaic, Greek philosophical views superimposed on biblical theology will look like the dim witted attempt by Satan to yet again enslave another group of people. Let’s be honest, isn’t that exactly what Satan has in mind anyway. Keep whomever he can keep enslaved to something. He really isn’t particular....any useless enslavement will do. For us to give merit to any form of human enslavement is to serve the evil one and NOT the One who died for us.
This very truth is something that our devout, Christian abolitionists recognized all to well. The fact that it may have appeared scripture endorsed or at the very least permitted slavery did not deter these brave men and women in their quest to see every one free from the tyranny of human slavery. And sadly, at the time, there was a great deal of endorsement of slavery within the church walls.
Let’s pray the church as a whole will wake up, or at the very least those dedicated to the truth will separate themselves out of the service of false teachings and into the direct light of truth! Being a truth seeker is not only exciting but is its own reward!

Yes, Women Can Lead a Nation and Can Be a Pastor
I really appreciated your article about women in church leadership. I would like to contribute to this discussion by suggesting that you and others on this discussion would read my just released book titled DRESSED FOR MINISTRY, published by Xulon Press. I do belive the Lord has given me, by His grace, a clear understanding of the "controversial" biblical texts that some have used to mislead the church to wrong implications and conclusions about women in minstry. As you probably are aware, most books on the subject present extreme positions based on a few texts. The truth is that at the third millennium, the church has not yet reached a conciliatory position on the subject. Personally, I have found no book or biblical proposal that deals with all the texts and still presents a biblical sound position that pleases women, men and church leaders. I believe that my book Dressed for Ministry does it.
It integrates all the controversial biblical texts and offers a solid and harmonious position for the ministry of women and men. By biblical exposition, the book proves that women are authorized by God to minister with every gift in any office in church, if they have learned how to walk un

So the approval of people from other countries is something we should disdain out of hand? If a "foriegner" likes something we should not? Also, my perennial question, Do you think that God tells you it's alright to lie while you're supposedly doing "his work" or do you just take it upon yourself?
