Evacuate???
They're evacuating the dorms? Who thought throwing a bunch of students out on the street just before a storm was a good idea?
Oh and by the way
Mr. Trible, be sure to cancel your Ferguson Center events for the weekend.. wouldn't want the public in harms way to make a buck !
Commuters and Construction
Some of you seem to forget that college commuters (like myself) would have to brave the rains and winds. We all know most people around here can't drive when it's dry, much less when it's wet, and ODU has quite a bit of construction going on around campus, which means more danger to faculty/staff and students. Many college commuters (F/S & student alike) have to go through some bridge/tunnel to get to their colleges, so it's more precautionary. It very well may end up being nothing serious, but why take unnecessary chances for only a few hours of class?
Closing the CNU campus
WOW, this has got to be the biggest blunder ever.. Why, CNU doesn't want the responsibility to care for it's students??? Instead let's tell them to leave in an unprecedented call to evacuate, knowing that the majority will not have plan, and will probably overcrowd a friends apartment or house down the street... Let's count how many other school are doing this??? UMM ZERO... Maybe, some trees will fall on campus and prove us all wrong... Somebody over there needs to wake up and smell the WawaCoffee !
I love it!!
If ignorance is bliss, this blog is delirious!!
2-10 inches of rain is hardly "a little bit of rain." It's obvious you have never been in downtown Norfolk during a hard summer rainstorm. A tropical storm will flood many streets making ODU dangerous to get to.
A little wind? 30-60 MPH winds will bring down more than limbs. It can cause widespread power outages and "prune" damaged or decaying trees. Not to mention the tornadoes tropical systems bring (expect watches to go up this evening).
Does the media get excited and beat stories about hurricanes to a pulp? YUP, but better safe than sorry.
If you are tired of hearing the coverage of Hanna, I suggest pressing the POWER button on your television’s remote or front panel…
???
Isn't it just supposed to rain and be a little windy? We have nor'easters like this all the time. I'm very surprised to see they are closing the campus.
CNU vs. ODU
While ODU is working on ways to bus it's students in-land if there's an evacuation and to provide food service during blackouts, CNU is kicking all of it's students out.
CNU Evacuate
I wonder which PhD egghead gave Trible this stupid plan. Hopefully Trible won't listen to them any more....... ridiculous!
What? This is a joke,
What? This is a joke, right?
