NEW BERN, N.C.

A former North Carolina probation and parole officer was sentenced today in federal court to serve 46 months in prison on charges that included possession with intent to distribute more than five grams of crack cocaine.

In 2007, law enforcement received information that Patricia Lisa Gederberg, 42, of Plymouth, a probation and parole officer, was assisting in the illegal trade of drugs in the Plymouth area, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney George E. B. Holding’s office.

Using her state-issued vehicle, she met with her contact to provide classified documents and also agreed to transport and provide protection during the transport of illegal drugs, the news release said. Then, on two different dates in June 2007, she used her state-owned vehicle and assisted in the transportation of illegal drugs.

In October, she was charged with possession with intent to distribute more than five grams of crack cocaine, aiding and abetting. She pleaded guilty to the charges on Dec. 14, the news release said.
