Injury news
The injury report came out Friday, with a few big names listed.
- Jaguars WR Jerry Porter (hamstring) is out, meaning Reggie Williams (who is probable with a hamstring injury), Matt Jones and Dennis Northcutt will see more passes.
- Seahawks WR Deion Branch (knee) is out, meaning Nate Burleson will be Seattle's lone veteran receiver.
- Patriots TE Ben Watson is doubtful, and almost certainly won't play, meaning more passes for New England's wide receivers, since the Pats don't have another pass-catching tight end.
- Eagles WR Reggie Brown (hamstring) is doubtful and highly unlikely to play, making rookie DeSean Jackson a good fantasy start.
- Jets WR Laveranues Coles (thigh) is questionable, though he expects to play.
- Browns RB Jamal Lewis (hamstring) is questionable, though he expects to play.
- Buccaneers WRs Michael Clayton (chest) and Joey Galloway (groin) are questionable, though Galloway is expected to start opposite Antonio Bryant.
- Saints RB Deuce McAllister (knee) is questionable, though he expects to play.
- Raiders WR Javon Walker (hamstring) is questionable, though he expects to play.

Now for three more Sunday previews ...
Jaguars at Titans, 1 p.m.: Start Jaguars RBs Maurice Jones-Drew and Fred Taylor, though Tennessee's run defense was fifth in the league last season (92.4 ypg). Sit Jags QB David Garrard, who won't throw for a lot of yards against a pass defense that ranked 10th last season (199.2 ypg). And sit his receivers, waiting a week to see who Garrard's main weapon is. Sit Titans QB Vince Young against what will be one of the NFL's top defenses. Sit Titans WR Justin Gage, though he'll be a good No. 3 or 4 fantasy receiver given the right match-up. And sit RBs LenDale White and Chris Johnson, since they'll share carries against a stiff defense, meaning neither will crack 100 yards. And start the Jaguars defense against the turnover-prone Young.
Cowboys at Browns, 4:15 p.m.: The every-week Dallas starters are QB Tony Romo, WR Terrell Owens, RB Marion Barber and TE Jason Witten. Start WR Patrick Crayton this week since he'll see plenty of passes with third option Sam Hurd out. And start the Dallas defense, though don't expect a great outing against a powerful Cleveland offense. The Browns' every-week starters are QB Derek Anderson, WR Braylon Edwards and TE Kellen Winslow. Sit RB Jamal Lewis, because of his injury and the fact that Dallas was sixth against the rush last season (94.6). Both kickers, Phil Dawson and Nick Folk, are also every-week starters.
Panthers at Chargers, 4:15 p.m.: Sit Panthers QB Jake Delhomme against what will be a top-three fantasy defense. With WR Steve Smith out, Delhomme's top targets will be D.J. Hackett and Muhsin Muhammad, but they're not good starters either. Also sit RBs DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart if you have other decent options, since they'll share carries against that stingy defense. For San Diego, obviously start RB LaDainian Tomlinson. Start TE Antonio Gates, who will is probable despite a toe injury. Start WR Chris Chambers, San Diego's top receiver. But sit QB Philip Rivers, who won't throw for 300 yards against an improved Carolina defense.
Sunday morning we'll finish off the Week 1 games, and add a few injury updates if they arise. And if you have any questions, send them in or email michael.connors@pilotonline.com.
