It's showtime

Finally, a day late, the Republican National Convention is underway in St. Paul.

You can feel the excitement. On the streets and in the arena.

Code Pink is ready. For what, I don't know.

David Gregory and the MSNBC gang are ready. They set up shop a few blocks away from the Xcel Center.

I don't know what it is about these cable guys, but they love to construct little studios on the street to be near "the people,"  then they turn their backs on the crowd. The louder the unwashed yell, the more determined the talking heads are not to look at them.

Here's Rachel Maddow's back.

Angie's dad - that would be Jon Voight - is in town. He was at a veterans' reception Tuesday afternoon where he grabbed a bunch of kids  carrying flags and insisted they pose with him for a photographer.

"You don't know who I am," he told the startled kids, "but someday this picture may mean something."

Here at the Xcel Center, Papa Bear a.k.a. Bill O'Reilly, is in the house.

By pointing my camera, focusing with my long lens and using my laptop as a tripod I was able to take this incredibly blurry picture.

The Virginia Delegation is on the floor. See anyone you know?
