Landmark Communications Inc. of Norfolk announced today that it has sold Q Interactive, which provides marketing services to advertisers and publishers, to Intrepid Investments, a merchant bank based in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. Terms were not disclosed.
Q Interactive, based in Chicago, has about 120 employees, said Michael Alston, president of Landmark’s interactive division. It was founded in 1995 and acquired in 2001 by Landmark, which publishes The Virginian-Pilot.
The company seeks to connect consumers with advertisers that have products targeting their interests. More than half of the nation’s top 100 advertisers as ranked by Advertising Age magazine, such as Procter & Gamble, use Q Interactive.
Intrepid Investments is a merchant bank that invests in technology companies.
Officials at Landmark announced in January that they were looking to sell the company’s businesses.
