The first TV ads in the race for 2nd Congressional District will kick off Tuesday, with challenger Glenn Nye making the first move.
Nye, a Democrat, is running against Republican incumbent Thelma Drake.
Over the next week, Nye’s one 30-second spot will air 210 times on WAVY, WTKR, WVBT and WVEC, public filings show.
The $50,960 ad buy includes a $2,200 high-profile placement during Saturday’s Virginia Tech-Georgia Tech football game.
A spokesman for Drake said she will be airing ads sometime soon.
The 2nd District includes all of Virginia Beach, part of Norfolk, part of Hampton and the Eastern Shore.

and the suport of everyone I know. Just like 4 more years of Bush we can't have another day of Thelma Drake. I wonder who will tell her how to think and what to say after Bush is out of the WH, and Obama is president. Karl Rove?

I think Glenn is an amazing person.
Did you know he helped negotiate a rescue of 26 American citizens and negotiating the release of an American hostage?
Or how about the fact that in Iraq, Nye led operations to stabilize Iraqi neighborhoods by creating employment for over 70,000 Iraqis as part of the counter-insurgency effort.
Did you know that Glenn is a fifth generation resident of the Second District. He grew up in Norfolk?
How about that he was posted to the U.S. Embassy in Singapore, where he helped protect U.S. intellectual property rights during the negotiation of the U.S.-Singapore Free Trade Agreement.
Or that he volunteered to go to Afghanistan, spending almost a year as part of a U.S. government sponsored team managing the historic Afghan Constitutional Convention and supporting the country's first Presidential election.
I'm sorry Thelma Drake, but Glenn's resume is much more impressive than selling houses.
Glenn grew up here, he's more likely to convince BRAC ten years from now that Oceana needs to remain in Hampton Roads. It has served as a place if employment for many, including Bush Sr. Rather than kowtow to the adminstration wanting to put Oce

I spoke with Mr. Nye earlier this past summer at a local function that both he and Thelma Drake were invited to. Both showed up and at the same time. Very cordial. But when a politician - politician wanna be promises he will REDUCE taxes, he loses credibility quickly. Also a promise to reduce the price of gas. Come on Mr. Nye - a newbie cannot promise anything but "they will work toward" a goal. You cannot do anything as profound as your statements - especially as your Saviour states he will raise our taxes. And though someone voted with the president 99% of the time - why reinstate a congress (democrate) that has the lowest approval rating ever.

the last thing i want when watching football this year are
politican's ads!. oh gross, talk about a buzz kill - now i know for sure i'll be serving aluminum cans in lieu of long necks cause i'm darn sure as shootin the gang is gonna pelt the t.v. ruthlessly when they see a political anything - save the ads for the weather news - no one cares about that - - - the audacity!
