Letters to Editor - bLetters

We welcome your opinion on public issues, in either of two ways. You can submit a letter to the editor for possible publication in the printed edition. The Virginian-Pilot welcomes letters to the editor on all topics, although concise letters (150 words or less) on public issues will receive priority. Letters may be edited for length, style and clarity and writers are limited to one published letter every month. Please add your name, city, street address and daytime telephone number for confirmation.

The other way is to comment on the published letters in this blog. In this online forum, you can comment as much as you want by using the comment box at the end of each entry.

Pilot doesn't speak for me

Your editorial on Sept. 6, 'Looking for answers on John McCain,' stated the GOP 'put on a tired show of anti-media anger, economic entitlement and us-versus-them retrenchment.' Amazing! According to Nielsen Media Research, 34.5 million viewers over three days watched this 'tired show' compared to the 30.2 million viewers who watched the Democratic speakers and fireworks over four days.

Furthermore, you stated that Americans worry that McCain has disavowed his principles. What Americans are you speaking for? The ones on your staff who write these inane editorials and back a loser every four years or the ones who read The Pilot because it's the only paper in town? Get past your liberal biases and find out what people really think before you try to speak for them.

Where do you get the idea the Pilot speaks for you?

Do you own the paper? Are you the editor? Are you even a shareholder? The Pilot is a private newspaper, not a government organ. If you want a paper to speak for you, you need to start one, or buy one. Opinions and editorials are exactly that...they are the newspaper's positions on local, national and international issues. We would like to think that they reflect the community, but the community is so diverse, that there are always going to be folks who agree and those who can't wait to put the paper in the parrot cage. But, remember this: no matter what they write about the government, they cannot be arrested, jailed or fined. And neither can you. That is the beauty of the 1st Amendment.

Pilot doesn't speak for me

I think you have a lot of company. The Pilot for years has been a left leaning Democratic Party cheerleader. I can't wait for their candidate endorsements. Let me predict them. All Democrats except for 1 token Republican. Same as always.

McCain and Drake lost me

I am really sick of McCain's distortions. I have been a Republican all my life but I am no longer voting for JM. I am also not voting for Thelma Drake because of the incessant recorded messages sent to my house and her endorsement of the Lipstick on a Pig fiasco that McCain started. Their politics have really started to sicken me.

Millions of people go to McDonalds, but that doesnt mean its good for them. The fact that millions of people watched the convention does NOT mean that it was NOT an anti-media, us-versus-them, substance-free, red-meat group grope. As to McCain disavowing his principles, you gotta pay more attention. Here's a laundry list of disavowments

Please read the link above and then return here to post an apology for claiming the "libwul media" is biased when in fact they are reporting the truth.
