Waggin' Tails

Wondering what you can do with your dog in Hampton Roads? Get the answers here. I'll be discussing dog care, nutrition, training, play, and games to play with your dog.

Pet owners should be well informed when it comes to caring for their pet. Recalls on food ingredients, brand name foods, and toys make it necessary for pet parents to have information. But there is so much information it would make your head spin. Angie has a knack for getting and sorting this information. Having run two pet related businesses and having rescued two dogs so far, she has years of experience in pet care and training. Preparing for Hanna

I’ll keep this short today. I know you’re getting your house ready for Hanna. You’ve probably got your file folder ready with your insurance papers and everything you need. What about your pet?

Not only do you need a file with your household papers, you need one for your pet too. Keep a file ready with your pet’s vet records and shot records. That way, no matter where you end up, you can prove that your pet is in good health and is up to date on all vaccines.

If you’re staying put for the storm, you know what to stock up on ahead of time. There are some things you need to keep on hand for your pet too. Keep a crate handy in case you need to go anywhere. Keep the leashes handy too.

Make sure you have plenty of pet food too. You can put it in plastic bags if you think it may get wet. While you’re getting bottled water for your family, pick up a couple gallons for your pets.

Hopefully you have a first aid kit. You need one for your pets too. They need a separate one because some of the things people can use can’t be used on animals. It’s a good idea to have i.d. tags on your pets. If something happens and they run off, it will be easier to get them back if people know where to contact you.

That’s it for now. I need to get my house ready for Hanna too.
