Here's one for the "Guiness Country Book of World Records:"
Thursday's opening act at the Verizon Wireless Virginia Beach Amphitheater, during another of their perfect weather nights, has the No. 1 single, the No. 2 best-selling album, the No. 6 video on Great American Country, the No. 2 album on Country Music Television.
The show itself followed that pattern. Taylor Swift was the double outstanding opening act for Rascal Flatts.
The popular threesome generated a good deal of excitement but, overall, their offering was less exciting than some of their shows of yesteryear. They sang, shouted and sweated but did not spark as they have done in the past.
The best part of the show was the encore, and that was abbreviated. They left the stage 15 minutes before the usual zero hour of 11 p.m.
They sang their hits, such as "God Bless the Broken Road," and their fans joined them. The Flatts followers had a good time, all right, but most of the night's fan enthusiasm was directed to Swift.
It is just about a given - that her next appearance will be as a headliner.
But Swift, an 18-year-old phenomenon is the best in the business. She has a strong voice and a strong personality. She came onstage at 8:10 and by 8:10 and one-half she had the audience wildly mesmerized.
She was constantly on the move as she exuded a magic. She has a Vogue face, chutzpah and magnetism.
Fans were waving cellphones during her time onstage in support of this megastar of the future.
Swift is expert at working an audience, bringing them into her world and keeping them wondering what she is going to do next.
Swift has gathered some excellent musicians, all of whom are devilishly handsome.
Swift will swiftly become the top female star in the country game.

Rascal Flatts not as good?
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
Take it from someone that has been to over 11 concerts that this year was the best in years!! The entertainment by Gary, Jay and Joe Don was at it's best this tour. They managed to provide every hit that they've been recognized for since "I'm Moving On" gave them the start they needed to become BEST VOCAL GROUP for the last 5 years in a row!
Sounds by this article that either the jouralist IS NOT a country fan or just managed to interview and see ALL THE 10 YEAR OLDS that came to see teen pop sensation Taylor Swift who has crossed over into the POP scene from country. She's great...but what 10 year girl or boy for that matter NOT love her. She in NO WAY blew Rascal Flatts out of the water or as Mr. Roberts says about the group
"offering was less exciting than some of their shows of yesteryear."
Thursday night. Good thing reviews are a matter of opinion. And thank god for these comments boxes!!
VA loves RASCAL FLATTS and they'll keep on coming no matter what the paper reviews say!
Taylor fan forever
I have to say that when we got our tickets the this past Thursday's concert I was like OH Taylor Swift..OK, at least it is not the Navy Band like at Sugarland. Sorry I know that will offend some but .... anyways..if you were not a HUGE Taylor fan when you arrived at the concert you were when you left! She put on a great show and she really showed the world her corky personality. It was great. I wish her tons of success and I look forward to going to see Taylor on her own with someone beign her opening act.
Awesome
I agree. Taylor Swift stole the show. My 11 year old sang and danced the whole time she was on stage and will be talking about this show until she comes back!!
