#1 Oscar Smith 37, #9 Grassfield 0
Tigers quarterback Phillip Sims moved into the 10th spot among South Hampton Roads career passing leaders, easily guiding his team in a lopsided battle of Southeastern District unbeatens.
Sims completed 13 of 16 passes for 301 yards and three touchdowns in three quarters of action. He threw an interception late in the third quarter.
Tim Smith opened the game with a 97-yard kickoff return, then caught 5 passes for 133 yards and touchdowns of 48 and 51 yards – both during Oscar Smith’s (5-0, 4-0 Southeastern) explosive 30-point second quarter.
The Tigers held Grassfield (4-1, 3-1) to just 79 total yards and four first downs.
Key stats: OS–Perry Jones 10-65 TD rushing; Matias Parker 4-43 receiving.
He said it: “We started off slow, but I was very pleased with our execution in the second quarter. Phillip Sims is one of the best quarterbacks in the area.” – Tigers coach Richard Morgan.
