Calling all skateboarders

Razzle-dazzle time again at the SK8R Bash at Mount Trashmore Skate Park next Saturday, Sept. 6,  in Virginia Beach.

Put on by Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation, the bash features an amateur skateboard contest, live music, freestyle skating on a mobile street course and the POWERade Rock Climbing Wall, as well as chances to win prizes.

To enter the contest, you must register first. Applications are available for download at www.VBgov.com/parks. Deadline for the $20 registration fee is Saturday.

Deadlines to register to vote are nearing

Turning 18 on or by Nov. 4 and want to vote in the presidential election? Time is running out.

Applications for absentee ballots, whether by mail, e-mail or fax, must be received by your local elections office no later than 5 p.m. Oct. 28. Deadline to register to vote is Oct. 6. For more information, visit www.sbe.virginia.gov/.

Auditions

Company seeks dancers for 2 shows

Ballet Virginia International will audition dancers for "Snow White" and "The Nutcracker" on Sept. 6 at the Sandler Center in Virginia Beach. Advanced/intermediate dancers 12 and older will audition from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m; ages 9-12, beginners/intermediate, from 2:30 to 4 p.m.; ages 6-8, beginners, from 4 to 5 p.m. All dancers may also try out for Ballet Virginia International's The Performing Company and The First Pointe Players.
