'Today' to broadcast in Colonial Williamsburg on Wednesday

The “Today” show, NBC’s morning news program, will broadcast from Colonial Williamsburg on Wednesday  as part of its “Today Takes on the Battleground States ” series.

Matt Lauer and Al Roker will broadcast on Duke of Gloucester Street. The program airs at 7 a.m.

Lauer is scheduled to interview Gov. Timothy M. Kaine and U.S. Rep. Eric Cantor, R-7th District, NBC said. He will report on a customized NBC News poll for the state of Virginia on the presidential election. Luke Russert is scheduled to report on the youth vote after visiting the University of Virginia to talk to students about who they plan to vote for.

Lauer and Roker will also be joined by Colonial African American singers, and Roker will do a cooking segment on Colonial food. In covering election battleground states, the show also will air from Philadelphia on Monday; Tampa, Fla., on Tuesday; and Detroit on Thursday, the day before the first presidential debate, in Oxford, Miss.

Also Wednesday, Roker will stop by Norfolk to speak with Teens With a Purpose, a group of teen peer educators, according to ACCESS AIDS Care. ACCESS, which works with the teens, will host a lunch with Roker at noon Enrico’s Ristorante on Colley Avenue, a news release said.
