U.Va. scores rare field hockey win over ODU

CHARLOTTESVILLE

Virginia scored twice late in the second half Sunday as the No. 11 Cavaliers beat eighth-ranked Old Dominion 2-0, their first field hockey victory over the Lady Monarchs since 1996.

Paige Selenski and Michelle Vittese scored for U.Va. (4-0).

ODU (0-4) was outshot 23-5.

ODU men, women triumph

Sophomore T.J. Beaulieu scored two goals in the first three minutes of the second half to propel the Old Dominion men past UNC Greensboro 2-1 in the second round of the UNCG Spartan Soccer Classic in Greensboro.

- Shavon Knight and Victoria Johnson scored two goals each as the ODU women beat visiting Elon 6-0.
