PORTSMOUTH
A memorial walk in honor of Meghan Landowski, a Portsmouth teen killed in April, is scheduled for Sept. 20.
The event is set to start at 9 a.m. at Kelli's Dance Explosion at 6243 Portsmouth Blvd. The walk will proceed to the waterfront for a prayer service and then on to Pinehurst Baptist Church on Felton Road for a dedication and tree planting.
The event is open to the public.
Landowski, 16, was found in her Roberts Court West home on April 10. Portsmouth police, the Navy Criminal Investigative Service and other agencies are working the case.

It's been months and I still
It's been months and I still can't believe she's gone. She was my best friend when I got to high school in homeroom, and she would save me a take5 everyday. Everyone knows how she died, but the police won't confirm it. People are hurting tremendously, and I understand it's gruesome, but we, growing up with her as our friend, have a right to know. They do have a lot of evidence, and I believe they need to tell us more and more often. I miss you little meghan :)
One Day...
...the person who committed this crime will make a mistake... they always do. I urge anyone out there who may have anything to contribute to please...step up...maybe you think what you know isn't important...it could however be the missing link that the police need to solve this case. Do it for Meghan...and the rest of her class.
Maybe if enough people show up her murder will get media.
The local press has not done a very good job of keeping Meghans murder in the forefront. It is truly sad that a young girl could be killed in such a way and the press not keep the public informed of the threat of a brutal killer on the loose. It will soon be five months since Meghan was killed and apparently investigators are no closer to solving her murder than they were on day one. P-town PD should have brought in outside help right at the start as it is obvious they do not have the ability to properly investigate. Portsmouth has one of the largest cold case files in the state. No doubt the investigators are doing their best but lack of training and experience is playing a big factor. P-towns leaders would rather hire more city managers than to pay their PD a living wage. That's why they can't retain police or attract new hires. We can only hope that Meghans case will get media attention so it will stay off the cold case files and be solved.
But still no arrests...
While I am glad to see that some are still holding a candle for Meghan, it breaks my heart that there have still been no arrests after five months.
300 pieces of evidence, including dna; a murder in broad daylight in a nice neighborhood; but still no one held accountable?
movin right along....
I can only hope that the silence of this case means that whoever is working it is making progress and is not saying anything to jepordize their case. This story is only the third time I've read about what happened to that girl. I hope it only "seems" like this is on someones back burner.
