Auditor's report: No misconduct found by VPA

The state auditor found no misconduct by the Virginia Port Authority during an investigation into allegations of management wrongdoing and misuse of state resources.

However, the auditor of public accounts recommended in an Aug. 15 report made public Tuesday that the port keep a log for all of its pool vehicles in order to track use, business purpose and responsibility for accidents or citations. It also suggested reminding employees of the port's compensation plan at least every two years and periodically re-emphasizing the importance of using discretion when discussing personnel issues.

The auditor's office began the investigation in July as a result of a May 19 letter alleging misuse of Port Authority vehicles, pay inequity at the agency, poor human resources conduct and other wrongdoing, according to the report.
